Greetings from Twig,
I've been invited (and encouraged) by some attentive SE students in Santa Barbara to offer a series of Phone Group Consultations between now and the upcoming Advanced trainings in September and October. Following their suggestions I'll be offering 3x three-hour group case consultations on the following dates:
Monday, August 16 from 6-9pm. Link
Monday, September 13 from 6-9pm. Link
Monday, October 4 from 6-9pm. Link
Topic Focus: This will be an opportunity to discuss the Advanced SE material, prepare for Advanced II and consider individual client case questions in regards to the advanced material.
Space and Cost: Space is limited to 10 participants and the cost is $60 for the three hours. Free for current assistants.
Participants: This group consult is directed toward present Advanced level SE students from any of the current classes. The equivalent of 1-hour of consultation credit will be given for this 3-hour session. Assistants of present trainings are welcome to listen in at no charge, though the time is necessarily reserved for the students. Just check the "Present SE Assistant's" ticket above.
Calling Service: We will be using the well-known freeconferencecalls.com service. Two days before our consultation registered participants will receive an email detailing the connecting number and PIN details. On the date & time of our meeting you can simply call the number with your choice of long distance service, put in the PIN and join the call. Please be aware that it is not a 1-800 number. You will be charged by your long distance service for normal long distance minutes. Ideally you will have access to an unlimited long distance minutes plan, use the Skype-Out minutes or so such work around from paying prime long distance rates.*
Consultation Recording: The group consultation will be recorded and participants can later download the recording for their review. Because of this participation is based on three agreements:
1. That you accept your voice being recorded.
2. That you maintain confidentiality both with regards to your clients names and identifying characteristics during the session (use an alias please).
3. That you promise to use the recording for your own review and not share it with others.

*About this "free" service and how it works. For years I've been highly skeptical of the words "freeconferncecall.com." It just sounds like something they would sell on late night t.v. with questionable quality issues. It turns out that the service works very well. After being in on many calls now and reading a little on what makes the service "free" I am comfortable doing these kinds of things without fearing the technology failing or their being hidden fees. The technology certainly is as good as you could ask for in these kinds of things and the "free" part comes from a little manipulation that local phone carries and groups like freeconferencecall.com do with AT&T and other mega long distance carriers. Here's how it works.
When we call in using some type of long distance plan it is certainly with one of the big telecom companies. They then rent space and infrastructure from local switchboards to make our calls with. Those local switchboards charge the big companies high rates, which AT&T needs to pay in order to provide our long distance phone service. The local switchboard then passing money back to freeconferencecall.com as reciprocity for having created a service that increases the big company's traffic through the smaller routers networks. The only one's unhappy in this equation are group like AT&T who pay more to provide the minutes service we pay for in our monthly bills. Its probably true that AT&T will someday find a way to get the FCC to stop this loophole from working them but in the meantime we get a "free" conference call (save the long distance minutes/bill) and companies like AT&T--who make more money per year than many combined African economies--make a little less. Even still, I recommend using Skype :-).
